Principal's Message

Aloha Parents!
I want to welcome you to Waimanalo Elementary and Intermediate School year. First and foremost, I want to thank you for choosing WEIS as your school! Our mission is to prepare students for post-secondary educational opportunities, which means College and Career ready!

We are a continuous improvement school, and look forward to the new assessment that the students will be taking this year. The Western Association of School and Colleges conducted their accreditation visit in November of 2010. Waimanalo School earned a 6 year accreditation with a 3-year review. Waimanalo Elementary and Intermediate School is an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) certified school. This program prepares students through rigorous coursework and expectations for Post-Secondary Education. AVID is designed to reach those students who normally would not pursue college. The program stresses advance coursework, rigorous curriculum, classroom instructional strategies and student support. WEIS will continue its UPLINK program for middle school. UPLINKS is an after school program for middle school students which provides them with supervised activities after school thus limited “at risk” behaviors during this critical time. Waimanalo Elementary and Intermediate School is proud to be a model school for Philosophy for Children (P4C) program on campus. This program promotes intellectually safe classroom in which students have inquiry rich discussions
